Central Dept. of Economics, Tribhuvan University, held its CEDinar series on August 27, 2026, providing a valuable forum for research presentations, academic exchange, and discussion.

The seminar featured two research papers:

“Does Migration Improve Food Security? Evidence from Rural Nepal”

The paper examines whether migration improves food security among rural households in Nepal, using panel data to explore food consumption and the situation of families left behind.

“Does Conflict Reshape the Military–FDI Nexus? Evidence from a Dynamic Panel Analysis”

Presenters/Authors: Narendra Regmi and Prashant Bhandari (University of Wisconsin- Whitewater and University of Pittsburgh)

The paper examines how conflict dynamics and institutional conditions shape the relationship between military expenditure and foreign direct investment across low- and middle-income countries.

The CEDinar drew thesis-semester MA and MPhil students, faculty members, and representatives from relevant government organizations. The presentations were followed by an interactive, engaging discussion, with participants actively exchanging views and raising questions about the research findings and their broader implications.

The Head of the Central Dept. of Economics, Tribhuvan University, Prof. Dr. Shiva Bhusal, thanked all presenters and participants for their valuable contributions and concluded the session by emphasizing the importance of such research-oriented academic forums.
